US Search

About the Search

Our US Search is a search of current and expired US Patents and published applications. Both Basic and Complex Mechanical searches include full subclass searching, which means that the searcher will bring up and view all documents going back to the 1800’s in the 2-5 most relevant subclasses. Text will be used to limit searches for less relevant subclasses. Non-mechanical searches will normally be text limited since the subclasses have extensive length, and the lack of relevant old art. A typical US Search done in PSV will involve viewing text and figures of 2000-4000 references.

Element Tagging

About Element Tagging

We take the features of the invention and create a chart detailing which references in the search report A-List have which features. You can specify the features, or we can pick them in our interpretation of the disclosure. This is another way Simple Patents makes reporting easier to understand.

International Search

International Search

The international search will normally be text limited since the international classification is less helpful than US classification. In addition to using our own system, PSV, we use Delphion and EAST to complete the search.  The International Search can only be ordered in conjunction with a US Search.Simple Patents relies on the US search to both familiarize the searcher and provide guidance in selecting IPC codes for an international search.
