2-Stage Searching
The 2-Stage Search option provides the inventor with an opportunity to refine their disclosure after reviewing several references from the art field. This option is useful when the inventor is not finished inventing, and intends to develop product around references and file a patent application. 2-stage searching is particularly useful in complex art fields such as business methods and software.
Search Stage 1
You provide us with an abbreviated invention disclosure – 200-300 words. We will then conduct a keyword-based search and turn around a search report within 2-3 days containing with up to five references from the art field. The search strategy will include keywords and classifications searched.
Search Stage 2
When we return the search, you and your client can review it and determine where there is room for inventing. You then generate a complete invention disclosure and point out important features that appear absent from the original references. We use your new invention disclosure to conduct an extensive search and deliver a report with 10-20 A-List references and a detailed search strategy focused on the features listed in the second disclosure.
